Everyday photos, everyday stories, every day... since January 2006

Almost made it

Today was a wonderful day to discover the Lick Observatory, we thought. We knew there was a bit of snow on the mountain, but it was sunny and bright and on the CalTrans site was no mention of traffic restrictions.

After a long and winding - but beautiful - road to Mount Hamilton, we encountered a road block just 5 miles before reaching the observatory. A police man told us they decided to close the road because there was ice on the road.

On our way back we stopped at the Twin Gates Parking to enjoy our sandwiches and take a picture of the observatory.
