Swan

Why do swans sometimes tuck their foot over their back? I can't imagine it's a relaxing pose. Or do they stretch the leg and use the flipper as a kind of sail to manoeuvre over the pond by wind power? Or as a sun collector to warm up the waterly cold legs?

Anyway, it looks a bit creepy, definitely not gracious or elegant as I expect of swans.
