Nice and warm...
We now know how the sea lions get out of the water onto the beams and plateaus under the pier. They can be quite high above the water.
We thought they waited for the tide to 'deliver' them on their resting spots, but actually they jump out of the water! On this YouTube video you can see how they launch themselves (just skip to 1:30 and 1:50 for the most action).
It's amazing that they perfectly land on the 'narrow' beam. Even more amazing is they don't fall off it while doing their nap.
