Good excuse for late-coming
Having a lot of water ways in our country, we have to deal with a lot of bridges too. In our village we even have two folding bridges within 1 kilometer distance. In tourist season they open every half hour. When you're on bike it's not that big a problem, you just take a little detour and cross the other folding bridge before that one opens. When you're by car, you'll just have to be patient and enjoy the attempts of your fellow car drivers in line who try to mesmerize the bridges' computers with their honking.
