Project(or)
A friend of mine, known as Der Wexel, just graduated from the academy for visual arts and design. Cum laude, so I guess he has a promising future!
This picture shows a part of his graduation project which is called Project(or), an ingenious sculpture of sound and light. Here's what Wexel has to say about his project (not on his site yet!):
"My admiration and fascination for the beautiful mechanisms in an 8mm filmprojector was the inspiration. The installation is made of four slideprojectors and four 8mm filmprojectors. In the projectors I made 24 contactmicrophones. The sounds of the mechanisms are captured by the microphones and are sent to an audiomixer.
The projectors are being controlled by a control unit. The soundscapes that are made with this installation are built from the live sounds of the projectors. The visuals that you see are the projections coming from the projectors."
